electr-o-sketch

so for our final project in this electrical engineering class at Cornell we decided to use a serial mouse to control an etch-a-sketch. everyone in the class is required to make a webpage for the project, and somehow our project got recognized. first it was put on slashdot (link here), and then it was included in this Forbes article “Five custom gadgets you can’t buy” (link here). and then today it showed up on boingboing and caused my email to be flooded with questions and comments. here is a link to the boingboing post. who would have figured our silly project would actually get recognized.

the original project page can be found here.

i found some old video and uploaded it to youtube:

Corona mm mmm good

Now this post may contain some images that are NWS (not work safe). So turn your monitors away from public’s eye.

Beer. What great stuff. The life and soul of college students.

I have always considered Corona to be a pretty good selling beer in the good ol US of A. I personally have never really put it in my list of favorite beers and I’ve tasted beers from all over, from budweiser to sapporo, darks to lights, stouts to ales. Anyways, I’ve noticed that college students here seem to love Corona and 4 out of 5 times its their choice when they want to step up from their cheapo-get-wasted-drunk beers. Sorry if i’m beginning to ramble on here.

Now having said that, I’m not sure how well Corona sells in Japan but after this clever ad with very suggestive photos and the tagline “Grind it in deeper” I would think it has boosted some sales. America needs some Corona ads like this instead of these “beach themed” ones.

Anyways, time for me to get back to work but I’ll leave you alone with these images…

Frozen in time

a-007.jpgJust as I thought winter was easing up we got blasted with this last night. Made my driveway into an ice rink. It also made for very fun commutes to and from work. Oh the joys of living in Maryland. We get wack weather like this all the time and you would think they would be prepared and drivers would be more competent…

Here you can see where the Zamboni left a nice shiny sheet of ice where I busted my ass this morning. I really hope that this was the last bit of winter…I can’t wait till the sun comes out again. till then…bundle up!

lost in translation

16931__lost_in_translation_l.jpg

A movie that I found hilarious and has become one of my favorite movies is Lost in Translation directed by Sofia Coppola starring Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson. (I actually own the DVD and I only own about 5 DVDs.)

Anyways at the end of the movie Bill Murray whispers something to Scarlett and you never find out what it is. Sofia Coppola claims that nothing was scripted and only Bill and Scarlett know. User vid22dotcom on youtube claims to have “digitally processed” the scene so you can hear the words. So if you have created something in your mind prior to this here is a SPOILER ALERT! video below
